Norbugang
Norbugang, a historic site located just a 15-minute walk from Yuksam. According to the prophecy of Guru Rimpoche, three learned Lamas gathered here in 1642 and enthroned Chogyal Phuntsog as the first religious king of Sikkim.

Today, you can still see a stone throne shaded by a 300-year-old fir tree at Norbugang. Legend has it that the footprints in front of the throne belong to Lhatsun Namkha Jigme, one of the three Lamas. Nearby, there's a chorten (stupa) containing soil and water from all over Sikkim. This makes Norbugang an important cultural site in Sikkimese history, preserved by the Archaeological Survey of India. Explore the rich heritage of Norbugang and delve into the beginnings of Sikkim's religious and cultural legacy.
