Kazi Lhendup Dorjee (1914–1983) A key figure during Sikkim's transition to democracy, Dorjee led through a turbulent period. He helped Sikkim join India while promoting democratic values. His legacy is one of guiding Sikkim towards a new political system.
Nar Bahadur Bhandari (1940–2017) One of Sikkim's longest-serving 15 year as the Chief Ministers, Bhandari focused on economic and social growth. He championed the interests of Nepali-speaking people in Sikkim and oversaw improvements in infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
B.B. Gurung (1919–2013) A respected leader known for his honesty, Gurung played a vital role in Sikkim becoming part of India. He served as both Chief Minister and Governor, contributing significantly to the state's development. His legacy symbolizes Sikkim's path towards democracy.
Sanchaman Limboo (1927–2016) A champion for tribal rights, Limboo advocated for the Limbu community. He served in Parliament and as Governor, pushing for recognition of the Limbu people as a scheduled tribe. His efforts were instrumental in advancing Sikkim's indigenous communities.
Pawan Kumar Chamling (1994-2019) Holding the record for longest-serving Chief Minister, Chamling led Sikkim for 25 years. He focused on organic farming, infrastructure, education, and protecting the environment. Under his leadership, Sikkim became a prosperous and environmentally conscious state.
Prem Singh Tamang (2019-Present) Also known as P.S. Golay, he led the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha party as Chief Minister. Golay's term focused on infrastructure, healthcare, and education. His administration prioritized public well-being, even during the COVID pandemic.
